Hear the Music — Privacy Policy

Hear the Music is developed and owned by Geoffrey Chen and published under licence by Smallsoft Pty. Ltd. This policy describes the iPhone and iPad app. The separate ear-training websites have their own privacy notices.
Using the app
The app works without an account or internet connection. Exercises, musical material and piano-style audio are generated or loaded on your device. The app does not send practice activity or personal information to Geoffrey Chen, Smallsoft Pty. Ltd. or an app analytics service. It contains no advertising, third-party analytics SDK, and it does not track you across apps or websites.
The app does not request access to your microphone, camera, contacts or location. It plays synthesized sound and does not record you.
Information stored on your device
The app saves your language, theme, volume and tempo preferences locally. It also keeps the latest 2,000 first-answer records for your progress display. These records include the practice date, module, question type, answer and correct answer, result, use of hints, playback count and exercise settings. Random identifiers distinguish questions and records; they are not account identifiers and are not sent to us.
You can clear the current practice history from the Progress screen. If an older history file cannot be read, the app may retain a local recovery copy so that the original file is not lost. Clearing the current history does not delete copies you have already exported or copies held in an existing system backup. Deleting the app removes its local app data from the device; offloading the app may retain that data. Apple device backups may contain local app data, depending on your backup settings.
Exporting and sharing
Export JSON history creates a local file. Only when you choose Save or share history and select a destination does the system hand that file to another app or service. The destination you choose handles the file under its own terms and privacy practices. No export is automatically sent to us.
Support, websites and Apple services
If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. This correspondence takes place outside the app. Please include only information needed to explain your question.
Links to the author’s website, support pages, score sources, the web ear-training portal at ear.geoffreychen.com, and Apple’s Standard EULA open only when you choose them. Those websites handle visits under their own privacy notices. Hosting and website analytics services may process technical visit information such as IP address, browser information, access logs and visit statistics. This website activity is separate from the app’s offline practice. The general website notice is available at https://geoffreychen.com/privacy-policy/.
Apple may separately process App Store transactions, device backups and diagnostic information under its policies and your device settings.

使用 App
App 无需账户或联网。练习、音乐素材和钢琴风格声音均在设备本地生成或读取。App 不向 Geoffrey Chen、Smallsoft Pty. Ltd. 或 App 分析服务发送练习活动或个人信息，不包含广告、第三方分析 SDK，也不会跨 App 或网站追踪你。
App 不请求麦克风、摄像头、通讯录或定位权限。声音由本地算法合成，不会录制你的声音。
保存在设备上的信息
App 在本机保存语言、配色、音量和速度偏好，并保留最近 2,000 条首次答题记录，用于显示训练情况。记录包括练习时间、模块、题型、所选答案与正确答案、答题结果、是否使用提示、播放次数和练习设置。题目与记录使用随机标识来相互区分；这些标识不是账户标识，也不会发送给我们。
你可以在“训练记录”中清除当前训练记录。如果旧记录文件无法读取，App 可能在本机保留一份恢复副本，避免原文件丢失。清除当前记录不会删除你已经导出的文件，也不会删除已有系统备份中的副本。删除 App 会移除设备上的 App 本地数据；系统的“卸载 App”功能可能保留其数据。设备备份可能包含本机 App 数据，具体取决于你的 Apple 备份设置。
导出与分享
“导出 JSON 记录”会生成一个本地文件。只有当你主动选择“保存或分享记录”并指定去向时，系统才会把文件交给所选的应用或服务。接收方按照自己的条款和隐私规则处理文件。导出文件不会自动发送给我们。
联系支持、访问网站与 Apple 服务
如果你通过电子邮件联系我们，我们会收到你的邮箱地址、邮件内容及你主动附上的附件。这类通信发生在 App 之外。请只提供说明问题所必需的信息。
作者网站、支持页面、乐谱来源、网页版练耳入口 和 Apple 标准许可 均由你主动打开。这些网站按照各自的隐私说明处理访问；托管及网站统计服务可能处理 IP 地址、浏览器信息、访问日志和访问统计等技术信息。这类网站访问与 App 内的离线练习相互独立。个人网站的通用隐私政策见 https://geoffreychen.com/privacy-policy/。
Apple 可能按照其平台政策及你的设备设置，另行处理 App Store 交易、设备备份和诊断信息。
