Responsibility is the obligation to answer for one's actions, choices, and consequences. It is both a moral concept and a foundation of law and social life.
Responsibility matters because without it promises, trust, punishment, and praise lose meaning. In everyday life, if someone promises to finish a task and fails, they are expected to explain and accept consequences. Philosophy asks whether responsibility remains possible if behavior is shaped by character, environment, unconscious motives, and social structures. Modern technology adds new questions: when an autonomous vehicle causes harm or an algorithm produces discrimination, who is responsible: the developer, the company, the user, or the system itself? Responsibility requires us to understand freedom, capacity, knowledge, and power behind action.
