Geoffrey Chen is an independent researcher, writer, and software creator based in Australia. His work moves across philosophy, artificial intelligence, systems design, psychology, music, and writing.

This site collects writing and research notes developed through his efforts to understand his own experience and the world around him. The work did not begin with an intention to establish a theory, promote a set of views, or seek recognition. Its concepts and judgments gradually took shape because some questions did not seem to receive sufficiently clear explanations within the frameworks already available.

Sustenesis is a provisional name for this body of thought and for a working framework that remains open to revision and testing. It does not ask to be accepted, nor should it be treated as a ready-made answer. If some of its ideas help readers understand themselves or the world more clearly, that is welcome. They should nevertheless remain subject to independent judgment, experience, criticism, and revision.
