In Australian English, when someone asks “How did you go?” after an exam, interview or task, they usually mean “How did it turn out?”, not “What transport did you use?” Natural replies include “Pretty well”, “Not great”, or “I got the job.”
If the question really concerns travel, “How did you get there?” is clearer. “How did it go?” is also common in other varieties of English. Do not confuse it with “How are you going?”, which often asks how someone is generally. “How did you go?” looks back at an event that has already happened.
