CXMT moves its fifth-generation DRAM platform and 24 Gb LPDDR5X products into volume production

On 20 September, CXMT announced at the 2026 World Manufacturing Convention that its fifth-generation DRAM technology platform, G5, had entered mass production. It also displayed two 24 Gb LPDDR5X products built on the platform. The company says the products use 496-ball and 245-ball packages for mid- to high-end smartphones and portable consumer electronics, and that both are now in volume production. CXMT had already begun producing LPDDR5X products in 2025, so the present change is not its first entry into the category. It is an update to the manufacturing platform, per-die capacity and production specifications.

CXMT reports that G5 uses quadruple patterning to reduce the active-area half-pitch of the memory array to 11.95 nanometres. It gives a storage-capacitor aspect ratio of 45:1 and a core functional-area height of 6,762 nanometres. Normalised to an 8 Gb die, the company says gross dies per wafer are at least 50 per cent higher than on its fourth-generation platform. Each new product has a per-die capacity of 24 Gb, 50 per cent above CXMT's previous comparable products. These process dimensions, die-count figures and capacity comparisons are company measurements or calculations. Reuters independently confirmed the announcement, stated production status and disclosed figures, but did not provide independent wafer measurements, yield data or end-device performance replication.

What is confirmed is volume production of the G5 manufacturing platform and the two 24 Gb LPDDR5X package variants. Public material does not disclose actual monthly output, tested yield, customers, specific devices, shipment volume, data rate or system-level power measurements. The reported increase concerns theoretical gross die output before defective units are removed; it is not evidence that yield or saleable-chip output has risen by the same 50 per cent. LPDDR5X primarily serves low-power memory requirements in smartphones and portable devices. The announcement does not cover high-bandwidth memory, and it reports no validation or deployment in data-centre AI accelerators, so it should not be treated as delivery of AI training compute.
