ergo extensa\uff09<\/strong>\uff1a\u5e7f\u5ef6\u5b9e\u4f53\uff0c\u9075\u5faa\u673a\u68b0\u89c4\u5f8b\u3002<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u7b1b\u5361\u5c14\u7684\u4e8c\u5143\u8bba\u662f\u5bf9\u5f53\u65f6\u5c40\u52bf\u7684\u76f4\u63a5\u56de\u5e94\uff1a<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>\u79d1\u5b66\u9769\u547d<\/strong> \u2192 class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u5fc3\u7269\u95ee\u9898\u4e4b\u6240\u4ee5\u5728\u7b1b\u5361\u5c14\u65f6\u4ee3\u6210\u4e3a\u54f2\u5b66\u7684\u6838\u5fc3\uff0c\u539f\u56e0\u5728\u4e8e\uff1a<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>\u79d1\u5b66\u9769\u547d\uff0816\u201317\u4e16\u7eaa\uff09<\/strong> class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u572817\u4e16\u7eaa\u79d1\u5b66\u9769\u547d\u4e0e\u5b97\u6559\u4f20\u7edf\u7684\u53cc\u91cd\u80cc\u666f\u4e0b\uff0c\u7b1b\u5361\u5c14\uff081596\u20131650\uff09\u9996\u6b21\u5c06\u5fc3\u7269\u95ee\u9898\u786e\u7acb\u4e3a\u54f2\u5b66\u7684\u6838\u5fc3\u8bae\u9898\uff0c\u4f7f\u4e4b\u6210\u4e3a\u73b0\u4ee3\u54f2\u5b66\u7684\u8d77\u70b9\u3002<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr Descartes<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Introduction<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The relationship between mind and matter has existed as a philosophical issue since antiquity. Yet it was not until the <strong>17th century<\/strong>, with <strong>Ren\u00e9 Descartes (1596\u20131650)<\/strong>, that the problem became central to philosophy. Descartes stood at the crossroads of the Scientific Revolution and the Christian tradition. His philosophy was both a response to the rise of modern science and a defense of the independent status of the soul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1. Ancient and Medieval Background<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>4th century BCE<\/strong>: Plato (427\u2013347 BCE) argued for the immortality of the soul, treating it as superior to the body. Aristotle (384\u2013322 BCE) conceived the soul as the \u201cform\u201d of the body, the principle of life functions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Classical Asia<\/strong>: Chinese traditions (Confucianism, Daoism, Buddhism) explored \u201cxin\u201d (\u5fc3, heart\u2013mind), \u201cxing\u201d (\u6027, nature), and \u201cshen\u201d (\u795e, spirit), emphasizing harmony rather than strict dualism.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Medieval period (5th\u201315th century)<\/strong>: Christian philosophy (Augustine, Aquinas) understood the soul as a creation of God, its relation to the body subordinated to theological explanation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During these long centuries, the mind\u2013body relation was not yet an independent philosophical problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2. The Shock of the Scientific Revolution<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>1543<\/strong>: Copernicus published <em>On the Revolutions of the Heavenly Spheres<\/em>, proposing the heliocentric model.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>1609<\/strong>: Kepler published <em>Astronomia Nova<\/em>, giving a mathematical account of planetary motion.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>1632<\/strong>: Galileo published <em>Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems<\/em>, defending mechanics and heliocentrism.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>1687<\/strong>: Newton\u2019s <em>Principia Mathematica<\/em> explained the universe in terms of universal gravitation and the laws of motion, portraying it as a vast mechanical system.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These advances framed the material world as a perfectly calculable machine. The pressing question followed: <strong>In such a mechanistic universe, what place is left for the mind or soul?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>3. Descartes\u2019 Philosophical Breakthrough<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>1637<\/strong>: Descartes published <em>Discourse on the Method<\/em>, introducing radical doubt and discovering the certainty of <em>cogito, ergo sum<\/em> (\u201cI think, therefore I am\u201d).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>1641<\/strong>: In <em>Meditations on First Philosophy<\/em>, he formally articulated <strong>mind\u2013body dualism<\/strong>:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Res cogitans (thinking substance)<\/strong>: non-extended, immaterial mind.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Res extensa (extended substance)<\/strong>: matter, governed by mechanical laws.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Descartes\u2019 dualism responded directly to his historical context:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Scientific Revolution<\/strong>: Matter was explained so thoroughly that mind had to be separated to preserve its uniqueness.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Religious background<\/strong>: The Christian tradition demanded that the soul be preserved as an independent substance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Methodological doubt<\/strong>: By making the thinking subject the only indubitable foundation, Descartes placed the mind at the center of philosophy.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>4.
