Reading notes of “What to say when you talk to your self” (1)

I’m reading the book “What to say when you talk to your self”. Below are some notes.

Leading behavioral researchers have told us that as much as seventy-seven percent of everything we think is negative, counterproductive, and works against us.

We believed what others told us and what we told ourselvesmost. We began to live out the picture of ourselves we had created in our minds.

You will become what you think about most; your success or failure in anything, large or small, will depend on your programming–what you accept from others, and what you say when you talk to yourself.

The brain simply believes what you tell it most. And what you tell it about you, it will create. It has no choice.

What we think is what we become.

  1. Programming createds beliefs.
  2. Beliefs create attitudes.
  3. Attitudes created feelings.
  4. Feelings determin actions.
  5. Actions create results.

Self-Talk is a way to override our past negative programming by erasing or replacing it with conscious, positive new directions.

The 5 levels of Self-Talk

Level 1 self-talk — The level of negative acceptance (“I can’t…”)

Level 2 self-talk — The leve of recognition and need to change (“I need to …I should…”)

Level 2 self-talk creates guilt, disappointment, and an acceptance of our own self-imagined inadequacies.

Level 3 self-talk — The level of decision to change (“I never…I no longer…”)

Level 4 self-talk — The level of the better you (“I am”)

Level 4 self-talk is characterized by the words, “I am…” “I am organized and in contrtol of my life. I am a winner! I am healthy, energetic, enthusiastic, and I’m going for it! Nothing can stop me now. I like who I am. I am in tune, on top, and in touch. I have determination, drive, and self-belief. I am living the life I choose, and I choose what’s right!”

Level 5 self-talk — The level of Universal Affirmation (“It is …”)

If it isn’t simple, it won’t work.

It made no difference whether he believed in the self-talk or not–his subconscious mind didn’t care–it simple acted on the new information he was unconsciously programming in.

Children are closer to the original potential we were born with. Until we become programmed to believe what we cannot do, as children we are still willing to believe in what we can.
